Dinah Stricker - Keto rocks!

About Dinah

My name is Dinah "Dee" Stricker. I have been working as a fitness trainer since 2009 and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Kinetics from the University of Ottawa in Canada (2003). I have been a member of the German Fitness Teachers Association eV since June 2017 and therefore have a very active lifestyle.

In addition to my two jobs as a fitness trainer and merchandiser, I can now also call myself an author. I have been following a ketogenic diet since August 2016. Since this diet has had a big impact on me and ultimately led to this blog, it was clear to me that I wanted to write down my experiences and my recipe repertoire in a book. At the beginning of 2018, I started developing the recipes, and eight months later, the rest of the text. In September 2019, my work entitled "Keto rocks" was finished. Shortly afterwards, I found Heel Verlag , who published my book on October 30, 2020.

My Story

Keto changed my life. Seriously. After years of diet frustration, this was my last chance for long-term success. I was always very sporty, even from early childhood. Hyperactive, as my mother would say. Always been in sports clubs. Played ice hockey for 23 years, 10 of which were competitive. So it was NEVER due to sport or a lack of exercise. At 1.63m, I weighed between 57 and 63kg most of the time.

And then came my first phase of weight gain. Towards the end of my studies I fell into a big hole. I really wanted to stay in Canada, where I had spent the last four years studying for my Bachelor of Science, but I couldn't get a work visa to stay there. So I had to go back to Germany. Goodbye to my lifelong dream. As an emotional eater, I started to "eat away" my frustration. Quite a lot, because in the end I had gained 74 kg.

Back in Germany, I had to start from scratch again. New apartment, new friends, new job. I worked as a waiter full-time for a year. Since then, I have had the utmost respect for this competitive sport. If I had had a Fitbit back then, I would have easily managed 20,000 steps or more in one shift. And I don't even like cardio. In any case, I lost so much weight from running that I ended up at 57 kg.
